Inspired by the books and films we know and love, this oil painting depicts Gandalf arriving at the Shire on an Autumnal morning, when the Shire is bustling and all hobbits are going about their business. 
 
I imagine he lingers there, a moment, watching and musing, after his long journey, fascinated in their little world ways, until he moves on, to see a very old friend.
